The Rockingham race weekend began with myself and the Litespeed team officially unveiling the new look Litespeed F3 car. It’s been repainted to reflect the affiliation with the Lotus F1 team and I hope the new colour scheme will bring us good luck in the future!

Unfortunately the weekend turned into quite a challenging one for the whole team. We had difficulty with the cars balance around high speed corners which meant that I was unable to qualify particularly high. During race 1 I was making some good progress through the pack, but then to make matters worse my engine blew on Lap 19 (only 5 from the finish!)

The team worked late into the night replacing the engine and setting up the car again (thanks guys!) and we were ready to race again Sunday morning. The balance was a little better for Race 2 , but it was a good opportunity to run the engine in and ‘warm up’ for Race 3. Race 2 also included pit stops for every driver which was interesting! It’s something I’ve never done before in racing and I know it adds extra interest for the spectators. One of my team members videoed my stop, so I’ve been analysing it to see where we can do better next time!

The team completely revised the suspension configuration for Race 3 and the balance was a lot better and even though I had already used my best tyres I was able to finish 8th in my class. So overall, a tough weekend for everyone in the team but hopefully we’ll have a better run at Spa in 2 weeks time.
